[English]Microsoft has now finally officially confirmed that the bug in the Reset PC function under Windows 10 versions 1903 and 1909 has been fixed. The bug has been known since February 2020 and was first addressed by Microsoft in October 2020 with a workaround.

Some Background

In Windows 10 , users have the option to reset the system to a factory default state. This function is available in the operating system's settings in the Recovery category under 'Reset this PC'

he user is then guided through the steps of resetting Windows 10 to the delivery state. In the process, a restore from the cloud can also be selected as of Windows 10 2004. As of this Windows 10 version, the 'Fresh Start' function is also part of 'Reset this PC', as I reported in the blog post Windows 10 v2004 breaks Fresh Start. Microsoft described the reset in this support post. This affected the following Windows 10 versions: 

• Client: Windows 10, version 1909; Windows 10, version 1903; Windows 10, version 1809; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019; Windows 10, version 1803; Windows 10, version 1709; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2016; Windows 10, version 1607
• Server: Windows Server, version 1909; Windows Server, version 1903; Windows Server, version 1809; Windows Server 2019; Windows Server, version 1803; Windows Server, version 1709 ; Windows Server 2016

Then in October 2020, Microsoft had released a workaround to fix the Windows 10 2004 reset image using DISM. I had pointed this out in the blog post Microsoft publishes workaround to fix a broken Windows 10 'reset PC' feature.

Microsoft confirms fix for Windows 10 (V1903-1909)

Via the colleagues from Bleeping Computer  I became aware that this update of the Windows 10 status area from January 12, 2021 gives. Microsoft confirms the fix there:

Resolved: 2021-01-12, 10:00 PT

Using the "Reset this PC" feature, also called "Push Button Reset" or PBR, might fail. You might restart into recovery with "Choose an option" at the top of the screen with various options or you might restart to your desktop and receive the error "There was a problem resetting your PC".

Update KB4524244 rom February 12, 2020, which caused this problem, has been removed and is no longer offered. Servicing Stack Update (SSU) KB4598479, dated January 12, 2021, now fixes this issue for Windows 10 versions 1903 and 1909. Those who installed update  KB4524244 dated February 12, 2020, should uninstall it, according to Microsoft's suggestion in the status section linked above.
