Updates for Windows 7/Windows Server 2008 R2
A rollup and a security-only update have been released for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. However, these updates are only available for systems with ESU license (2nd year). The update history for Windows 7 can be found on this Microsoft page.
The update installation requires either a valid ESU license for 2021, or ESU Bypass v11 (see).
KB5007236 (Monthly Rollup) for Windows 7/Windows Server 2008 R2
Update KB5007236 (Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1) contains (besides the security fixes from the previous month) improvements and bug fixes and addresses the following:
- Addresses a known issue that might prevent devices from downloading and installing printer drivers when the devices attempt to connect to a network printer for the first time. We have observed this issue on devices that access printers using a print server that uses HTTP connections.
- Addresses a known issue that prevents an Internet print server from properly packaging modified printer properties before sending the package to the client.
- Addresses an issue in which certain apps might have unexpected results when rendering some user interface elements or when drawing within the app. You might encounter this issue with apps that use GDI+ and set a zero (0) width pen object on displays with high dots per inch (DPI) or resolution, or if the app is using scaling.
This update is automatically downloaded and installed via Windows Update. However, the package is also available via Microsoft Update Catalog and is distributed via WSUS. Details about the requirements and known issues can be found in the KB article.

Why I can't install update with error code 0x80073701? Windows Update Troubleshooter won't help me. I use Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64, and I have installed BypassESU v11
Sometimes it's required to clean the update repository – I've had this issue in 2020.
I receive below error when installing KB5007236 Win7 patch

Is this bug/known issue or issue with ESU? Please help
ESU license is updated aswell
See my blog post SIGRed-Patch KB4565524: Install fails in Windows Server 2008 R2 – it's in most cases a missing or non detected ESU license. In some cases it helps to reset the Windows Update component store (see also). This folder is where the downloaded update packages are stored. As outlined in the article Windows 10: Upgrade Error 0x80244019, to reset the component store, various services need to be stopped and then the folder:
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution
may be renamed to SoftwareDistribution.old. After a restart Windows creates the folder again.
have tried reset of Windows update and renamed Software Distribution as well. But still same error.
