[German]CompuGroup Medical SE & Co. KGaA, a major medical services provider, has been the victim of a cyberattack. The Koblenz-based medical services provider admitted as much on Monday, Dec. 20, 2021. The internal IT systems are likely affected, which should affect some doctors, pharmacies, labs and clinics if they want to contact the company. Here is some information on what is known.

The company CompuGroup Medical SE & Co. KGaA has been the victim of a cyberattack. I became aware of the facts through several blog readers directly (thanks for that), as well as via Twitter.
The text above is in German, but on the companies website, there are also statements in English. The first statement talks about a technical issue caused by a cyber attack on the IT systems:
Technical failure
We are experiencing an attack on our internal systems. Securing the data of our customers is our utmost priority. We have therefore isolated major parts of our services. We are gradually checking key services to bring them back up. Currently we have no indication that the attack has impacted customer systems. Investigations are ongoing.
We will provide the next update tomorrow morning (December 21, 2021).

An update around 10:50 p.m. then admits to a ransomware attack that affects the availability of some internal systems, such as email and phone services.
Technical failure — Update
We have been subject to a so-called ransomware attack and have immediately responded with countermeasures. The vast majority of our customer systems is up and running and deemed to be safe so that our customers are able to work. Currently we have no indication that the attack has impacted customer systems or customer data. The attack has affected the availability of some of our internal systems like E-Mail and telephony services. Therefore, our service and hotline availability is impacted while we gradually restore our systems. The availability of our customer systems and data integrity remain our highest priority. We continue to monitor all systems closely and are working with all relevant authorities. We will update you in due time to new developments.

However, this update states that customer systems are not affected. And the ransomware attack is also said to have had no impact on customer data.
