Microsoft offers Email notification about known Windows bugs for IT administrators

Windows[German]Microsoft provides information about known bugs and issues in Windows 10, 11 and Windows Server 2022 in the Known Issues category of its Windows Release Health status page. However, administrators from companies often do not have the time to check the pages to see if there are any new reports. Now Microsoft is offering the option for administrators from corporate environments to sign up for an email notification via their Microsoft 365 Admin Center.

Users and administrators can read about known issues affecting Windows 10, 11 and Windows Server 2022 on the Windows Release Health status page. There is the Known Issues category with known and unfixed bugs, sections for new features and also a category for fixed issues.

Windows Release Health

On May 3, 2023, Microsoft has announced "the availability of a frequently requested feature for IT administrators" who schedule Windows feature and quality updates. IT administrators can now receive email notifications of known Windows issues. This applies to known Windows issues, which are documented in the Windows version status section of the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. In this way, IT administrators should be able to easily and quickly learn about Windows update-related issues and make informed decisions about deploying an update to your environment.

The notification via e-mail requires logging into the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, as it is explanined in the Techcommunity article New feature: Sign up for Windows known issue email alerts. E-Mail notifications are send:

  • after changes in issue status
  • new workarounds
  • or fixes issues

announced by Microsoft. However, this new feature is only available to IT administrators with a Windows or Microsoft 365 tenant, a subscription that provides access to Windows Release Health in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, and an appropriate administrator role. A footnote states:
