Firefox 124.0

Firefox 124 is a new development branch which, according to the release notes, has a number of new features. Here is a brief overview:

  • The caret browsing mode now also works in the PDF viewer.
  • In the Firefox view, open tabs can now be sorted either by the last activity or by tab order. The last activity is the default setting.
  • Firefox now fills the jump list in the Windows taskbar more efficiently, which should result in a smoother browsing experience.
  • Firefox on Mac now uses the macOS full-screen API for all types of full-screen windows. This should better match the expected macOS user experience for full screen panes, menu bar and the dock.
  • With Firefox 124, the availability of Qwant has been extended to all languages in the France region as well as Belgium, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and Switzerland.

Furthermore, several vulnerabilities rated as high are closed (see here). Notes for Enterprise users can be found here. Firefox should update itself automatically, but can be downloaded from this website for various platforms (the variant can be selected via the list field).
