Anyone using the camera on a system with this operating system runs the risk of other apps no longer working. This can affect, for example, logging in using Windows Hello. Microsoft confirmed this overnight (October 18, 2024) on its status page.

Windows 11 24H2 and its issues
The feature update to Windows 11 24H2 is still quite recent – it was made available to interested users on October 1, 2024 (see Windows 11 24H released (Oktober 1, 2024)). However, there have been numerous bugs since this release that have somewhat impaired the "Windows 11 24H2 experience". Apps no longer respond when using the camera
Microsoft has added another bug to the list of known issues with Windows 11 24H2 as of October 18, 2024. The support article Camera use might cause some applications to become unresponsive can be found on the Windows 11 24H2 Health Status page.
In the support post, Microsoft confirms that after installing or upgrading to Windows 11 version 24H2, certain devices may experience issues when using the built-in camera. According to Microsoft, this affects scenarios in which facial recognition functions or object recognition are activated. This can include using the camera app, using facial recognition login options with Windows Hello and other applications that use the integrated camera.
Microsoft therefore had to set a compatibility lock for the device models affected by this problem. These devices will not be offered the installation of Windows 11, version 24H2, via the Windows Update Release Channel. IT administrators in corporate environments using Windows Update for Business reports can check this issue under the protection ID 53340062.
Microsoft developers are working on a solution and will provide more information as it becomes available. Microsoft advises that users should not attempt to manually update to Windows 11 version 24H2 using the Windows 11 installation wizard or media creation tool until this issue is resolved.
