Patchday: Windows 11/Server 2022 Updates (November 12, 2024)

Windows[German]On November 12, 2024 (second Tuesday of the month, patch day at Microsoft), Microsoft also released cumulative updates for Windows 11 22H2 to 24H2. Update KB5046617 for Windows 11 24H2

Cumulative Update KB5046617 raises the OS build for Windows 11 to 26100.2314 and includes quality improvements and security patches. Here is the list of fixes:

  • [Task Manager (known issue)] Fixed: The count for the number of groups is wrong or always zero (0) on the Processes tab. This occurs when you turn on "Group by type."
  • [Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL)] Fixed: You cannot access your Dev Drive.
  • [Internet connection] Fixed: A small number of devices cannot connect to the internet. This occurs when a DHCP server response has duplicate DHCP options. This stops IPv4 connections on certain networks.

Windows 11 version 22H2 Home and Pro are no longer supported. The Enterprise and Education versions will continue to receive security updates.

Windows Server 2022/23H2 – 2025

For Windows Server, two different update versions are now available for Server 2022 and for Server 23H2 and Server 2025. The corrections made by these updates can be found in the respective support article.

  • For Windows Server 2025, according to this Microsoft page, cumulative update KB5046617 has been released, which raises the OS build to 20348.2314.
