[German]Google has updated its GMail Workspace Sync so that the program is compatible with Windows 11 24H2. This means that Microsoft Outlook can be used with Google Workspace under this operating system. The fix was announced on December 5, 2024, but requires the installation of the latest GMail Workspace Syc.

Outlook issues with GMail Workspace Syc
Outlook often causes problems when it comes to connecting Gmail or Calendar. I recently reported in the blog post New Outlook app: No GMail calendar entries possible – workaround and fix that Microsoft has fixed a bug in its new Outlook app in connection with GMail calendar entries
Classic Outlook also had problems in connection with Google services if the GMail Workspace Sync application was used. Google Workspace Sync for Microsoft Outlook (GWSMO) is a tool that allows users to manage their Google Workspace emails, calendar events, contacts, notes and tasks directly in Microsoft Outlook. This integration helps users who prefer Outlook to access and manage their Google Workspace data seamlessly.
Unfortunately, this no longer works with Windows 11 24H2. Users of Windows 11 version 24H2 noticed after installing this operating system version that Microsoft Outlook had problems as soon as Google Workspace Sync was used.
It could happen that Microsoft Outlook could not be started as long as Google Workspace Sync was installed on Windows 11 24H2. An error message may have appeared "Cannot Start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot Open the Outlook Window. The set of folders cannot be opened. An unexpected error has occurred. MAPI was unable to load the information service".
Microsoft has therefore set a compatibility lock for the Windows 11 24H2 upgrade for machines on which an old version of Google Workspace Sync is found. On these machines, the installation of Windows 11, version 24H2, will not be offered via the Windows Update Release Channel. IT administrators using Windows Update for Business reports can check this issue using the protection ID: 54318776.
New GMail Workspace Syc required
On December 5, 2024, Microsoft published the entry Outlook might fail to start with Google Workspace Sync for Microsoft Outlook in the Windows 11 24H2 Release Health Dashboard. The error was confirmed in the post and Microsoft announced that there is a solution.

Users of affected systems will need to install the latest version of Google Workspace Sync before upgrading to Windows 11, version 24H2. This issue is resolved by installing the latest version of Google Workspace Sync (4.3.68.0).
If the Windows 11 24H2 upgrade is still not offered within 48 hours of upgrading Google Workspace Sync to the latest version, users will need to contact Google Workspace support for more information on how to resolve this, Microsoft writes.
The alternative is to install Google Workspace Sync (4.3.68.0) and then upgrade to Windows 11 24H2 using the Media Creation Tool. In this case, however, the instructions provided by the tool must be followed.
