[German]A short addendum from Friday, December 13, 2024, which may be relevant for administrators of an IBM Domino server. A reader pointed out to me that these servers require special attention with regard to a possible restart. Because after the restart, email forwarding on this Domino server no longer works. However, there are now fixes.

Blog reader Martin informed me today, December 16 (thanks for that), that HCL Software has published a support article CRITICAL ALERT: Mail not routing after Domino restarts beginning December 13, 2024 on the topic (thanks for that).
Router error after restart
It is said that after restarting a Domino server, a router error occurs, which leads to e-mail delivery errors due to a routing loop. The mail rules will also no longer work. In addition, Domino only uses a single mailbox, regardless of what the configuration specifies.
Date/time problem as cause
This is a date/time issue in the Domino server code. According to HCL Software, the area where the error was found is used to determine if the configuration needs to be updated. As of December 13, this check fails, so the router cannot load your configuration.
This issue only occurs when a Domino server is restarted on or after December 13, 2024. HCL issued the warning linked above on December 13, 2024. The following product versions are affected:
IBM Domino v9.0.x and v10.0.x and earlier
HCL Domino 11.0.x, 12.0.x and 14

Fix already available
To resolve the problem, HCL Software provides interim fixes for affected Domino server versions, which must be installed. The installation of the interim fix requires that the server is running the latest fixpack of the respective version.
