[German]Since December 6, 2025, some users are reporting login issues caused by Microsoft's new Outlook desktop app for Windows. The app refuses a loging and drops an error 0x80049dd3. Although Microsoft claimed they have fixed it the other day, it seems unfixed and is now again under investigation.

New Outlook app causes trouble
I can't quite understand why anyone would switch to the new Outlook app. I've seen the following tweet on X yesterday.
Zack Bowden from Windows Central complains that the new Outlook app is causing problems and throws the Access Denied error every time you log in.
From the screenshot above, I can see that the app reports the error text "Something went wrong" and the error code 0x80049dd3 when logging in. The error disappears after 10 seconds.

Outlook error 0x80049dd3
Since December 6, 2024, there have been an increasing number of reports from Outlook users complaining that the desktop app throws the error code 0x80049dd3 when logging in. As early as December 6, 2024, there is the Microsoft Answers forum post Suddenly unable to open email in Outlook, where someone complains about the error 0x80049dd3.
When he tries to open an email in Outlook on his Surface Pro, an Outlook screen appears with the option to select the email account or add a new account. When he selects his account, a window pops up indicating that he needs to sign in to his account, even though he is already signed in. If he tries to log in, it is rejected with the error 0x80049DD3. On a Galaxy S21, he can open his emails in Outlook without any problems.
This Microsoft Answers forum post from December 13, 2024 also describes a sudden login error in the Outlook app. The thread already spans several pages..
Microsoft has not fixed the error 0x80049dd3
The above error code rang a bell – the colleagues from neowin.net have just published the article Microsoft admits it didn't really fix Windows Outlook 0x80049dd3 sign-in bug. Microsoft actually wanted to have fixed this bug a long time ago and had written this in the feedback hub. However, after further complaints were received, Microsoft changed the entry to "that the problem is being investigated again".
