[German]Question to the readership whether anyone has observed problems with Microsoft Office 2019 in conjunction with Microsoft Teams 2.0 after the January 2025 patch day (14.1.2025). Here is an observation from a blog reader.

January 2025 updates for Office and Teams
On January 14, 2025, Microsoft released its security updates for Microsoft Office 2019 (see PatchdayPatchday: Microsoft Office Updates (January 2025): Microsoft Office Updates (14. Januar 2025)). According to this Microsoft page, the Microsoft Teams 2.0 client was updated to build 24335.207.3345.5574 on January 10, 2025.
A reader reports problems
As early as January 15, 2025, blog reader Daniel M. contacted us by email and wrote "that Microsoft had released updates for Teams and Office 2019". He was then allowed to spend the morning (15.1.2024) completely reinstalling Microsoft Office 2019 on several workstations via the online repair.
The reason was that Microsoft Outlook 2019 could no longer connect to Microsoft Exchange 2019 after installing the updates if Teams was open in the background.
The obligatory emptying of the folders under AppData\Local and AppData\Roaming, deleting the session cache and recreating the local Outlook profile were unsuccessful, wrote Daniel.
Only a complete online repair of Microsoft Office 2019 was helpful here. Only then were the affected users able to retrieve their emails from Exchange Server 2019 again. As soon as Teams was restarted, the connection was lost again, the reader wrote to me and asked: Is this problem known? So far, I have not received any further reports of this.

I did a quick search – connection problems between Outlook 2019 and Exchange Server 2019 were reported more frequently in 2024. In the Microsoft Answers forum there is a thread Outlook 2019 pro cannot connect to Exchange from November 2024, where a similar problem was reported. This MS Answers forum thread from May 2024 is also about connection problems. However, Microsoft Teams 2.0 is not mentioned in either thread, so the cases seem to be different.
