[German]Since October 2024, owners of ASUS computers that appear to be formally compatible with Windows 11 24H2 have faced the problem that no feature upgrade was offered or the installation failed. Microsoft has now resolved this problem and removed the upgrade blocker on Windows 11 24H2.

Installation problems with ASUS computers
On October 18, 2024 Microsoft has added another error to the list of known issues with Windows 11 24H2 on the Windows 11 24H2 Health Status page. The support article Some ASUS devices might fail to install Windows 11, version 24H2 has been available since October 2024. I had reported in the blog post Windows 11 24H2: Installation fails on some ASUS devices.
In the support article, Microsoft confirmed at the time that the installation of the new operating system (possibly as a feature update) was causing problems on some ASUS devices, particularly the X415KA and X515KA models. This manifests itself in the fact that a blue screen may appear on the device during the update process, meaning that the installation of Windows 11 version 24H2 cannot be completed successfully.
There is a fix now
ASUS and Microsoft developers have been working on a solution since October 2024. Now I have seen on the Windows 11 24H2 Health Status page that the support article Some ASUS devices might fail to install Windows 11, version 24H2 has been updated to February 14, 2025 and the status has been changed to "Resolved".
This issue has been resolved by a BIOS update provided by ASUS. Devices with ASUS X415KA and X515KA models running a BIOS version lower than 311 will need to install the latest BIOS update to remove the backup and proceed with the upgrade to Windows 11, version 24H2.
The BIOS update is classified as a critical update (CU) and is available via Windows Update. Although the protection measure will remain in place, it will be gradually lifted as more devices receive the update. Users are advised to check for updates in Settings > Windows Update and install all available updates to ensure compatibility with Windows 11, version 24H2.
