[German]Small addendum to the never-ending topic "Microsoft will end "driver synchronization in WSUS in April 2025". As befits April, Microsoft has announced "the retreat from the retreat". The WSUS can still update drivers for Windows in the future (until further notice).

Discontinuation announced in June 2024
Microsoft had discontinued the previously available function for driver synchronization via update via Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) in June 2024. The relevant information was published on 28 June 2024 in the Techcommunity article Deprecation of WSUS driver synchronization.
I reported on this in the blog post Microsoft stops driver synchronization in WSUS in April 2025. On 24 January 2025, there was then a reminder in the Windows Release Health Message Center via the post 90-day reminder: Deprecation of WSUS driver synchronization.
The service for providing driver synchronization updates was to be decommissioned on April 18, 2025, it said. For local contexts, the drivers would still be available for download in the Microsoft Update Catalog, according to Microsoft. However, administrators will not be able to import these update packages into WSUS.
Microsoft says WSUS continue to support driver updates
Microsoft has now made a U-turn and will not deactivate driver updates via WSUS in April 2025 after all. On 7 April 2024, the article Continuing WSUS support for driver synchronization was published in the tech community. It states that Microsoft has decided, based on "valuable customer feedback", to continue supporting the synchronization of driver updates with Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) servers. This decision postpones Microsoft's earlier plans to end this support in April 2025.
Companies that rely on driver synchronization via WSUS can continue to use this feature, it is now said. Although the service is part of an outdated WSUS service, the function will remain (for the time being). However, Microsoft points out that the WSUS or the service is no longer being actively developed and will no longer be available in a future version and will be removed. Exactly when this will happen remains to be seen.
