Update KB5055523 blocks HCL Notes start
German blog reader Thorsten already informed me 10 days ago about a problem under Windows 11 24H2 in connection with HCL Notes and the cumulative update KB5055523 released on April 8, 2025.small supplement to an error caused by an update under Windows 11 24H2. There are reports that the HCL Notes (Domino) application no longer wants to start after the KB5055523 update from April 8, 2025 has been installed on a machine. Below is some information on this issue.
HCL-Software have already published the support article Notes fails to launch after applying KB5055523 on Windows 11 24H2 days ago. The products HCL Notes 11.0.x, 12.0.x, 14.x do not start on Windows 11 24H2 after installing the update KB5055523 from April 8, 2025. HCL Notes 12.0.x fails to start with the following error message:
"Cannot complete the operation, Notes is running but not responding. Please close and restart Notes."
As a workaround, HCL Software recommends running HCL Notes in compatibility mode. To do this, right-click on the HCL Notes shortcut or the .exe file and call up the Properties context menu command. On the Compatibility tab, select the Run this program in compatibility mode for: checkbox. The corresponding operating system version can then be selected.
If required, other compatibility options such as "Run this program as administrator" or "Disable display scaling at high DPI settings" can be adjusted. If this does not help, HCL-Software recommends uninstalling the update KB5055523 from April 8, 2025. Is anyone affected?
