On October 14, 2025, Windows 10 22H2 will no longer be officially supported. Private users can receive one year of ESU support, and business users can receive three years (see Windows 10: ESU information and FAQ for home users and Windows 10: Prices for Extended Security Updates announced). For business users, support for Windows 10 22H2 will not expire until 2028.
Last week, I came across information on X that Microsoft intends to continue supporting the Edge browser and Microsoft WebView2 Runtime on Windows 10 22H2 beyond October 14, 2025. The above announcement has been posted on the Microsoft Edge Lifecycle Policy page since August 4, 2025.
It states that Microsoft Edge and the Microsoft WebView2 runtime environment will continue to receive updates for Windows 10 22H2 until at least October 2028. This date coincides with the end of the Extended Security Updates (ESU) program.
The ESU program is not required for devices to continue receiving updates for Microsoft Edge or the WebView2 runtime environment. This is helpful, for example, for users who opt for protection through 0patch (see Windows 10: 0patch provides 5 years of additional support).
