[German]A brief addendum from last week's August 2025 patch day. Microsoft has fixed a cluster service bug that had been occurring for some time (since July 2025 patchday) in Windows Server 2019 with the KB5063877 update from August 12, 2025. The bug in the Microsoft Changjie Input Method has also been fixed.
Update KB5063877 for Windows Server 2019
Cumulative Update KB5063877 was released on August 12, 2025 for Windows 10 2019 Enterprise LTSC and also for Windows Server 2019. I mentioned this in the article Patchday: Windows Server Updates (August 12, 2025), but did not describe the security fixes, improvements, and bug fixes described in the support article (switch to the Server 2019 tab to view).
Cluster service bug fixed with update KB5063877
In the support article for update KB5063877for Windows 10 2019 Enterprise LTSC dated August 12, 2025, Microsoft mentions that a problem in the cluster service has been fixed. It states: "Fixed a known issue in Windows Server 2019 where the Cluster Service repeatedly stopped and restarted."
This behavior prevented nodes running Windows Server 2019 from rejoining the cluster or going into quarantine. Alternatively, virtual machines were restarted multiple times. In addition, errors with event ID 7031 frequently appeared in the event logs. The problem occurred specifically in configurations that used BitLocker with Cluster Shared Volumes (CSV).
Microsoft has not provided any further information. However, colleagues at Bleeping Computer write in this article that Redmond informed in an internal memo that the above problem occurred after installing the KB5062557 update released on July 8, 2025, and that cluster operations were no longer functioning properly.
Bug in Microsoft Changjie Input Method fixed
In the blog post Windows 10/11 and Server: Known issues (early July 2025), I also reported problems with Microsoft Changjie IME. In various versions of Windows, problems may occur when using Microsoft Changjie IME after installing the security updates from July 14, 2025.
Microsoft Changjie IME is an input method editor for traditional Chinese and is unlikely to affect the readership of this blog. It affects all clients running Windows 10 or later and all servers running Windows Server 2016 or later. Details can be found in the support article Issues occur when using Microsoft Changjie Input Method.
The bugs in Microsoft Changjie IME were fixed in the affected Windows versions by the updates released on August 12, 2025. All Windows client and server versions still under support were affected.
