Several media picked up on the incident in articles on July 28, 2025. The first reports were probably based on a report to US regulatory authorities. An Allianz spokesperson confirmed the hack to Techcrunch:
On July 16, 2025, a malicious threat actor gained access to a third-party cloud-based CRM system used by Allianz Life.
The spokesperson was referring to a customer relationship management (CRM) database that contains information about the company's customers. "The threat actor was able to use a social engineering technique to obtain personal data about the majority of Allianz Life customers, financial professionals and selected Allianz Life employees," reads the confirmation.
The Register has compiled some information in this article. It is unclear who was responsible for the hack.
