Windows 7/8.1/Server: WSUS-Update KB4012864

Windows Update[German]Some users of my German blog informed me, that Update KB4012864 has been offered in WSUS. Here are a few details about that update.

Update KB4012864 has been released at March 16, 2017 and shall (according to Microsoft Update Catalog) fix some issues:

This update will be offered in Microsoft Update Catalog for several Windows versions(Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Server versions). Only Windows 10 is missing (see below).

Searching the web for KB4012864 did not provide too much hits. Beside the link to Microsoft Update Catalog there is a thread in digital-forum.it and at AskWoody is a post within the lounge. But this GB support site provides more details:

This update is quoted as important, but KB article 4012864 says, it's an update for: DST changes in Windows for Northern Cypress, Mongolia, and Russian Saratov region.

Northern Cyprus has stopped observing daylight saving time. This new policy went into effect on October 30, 2016. Going forward, the area will remain set at UTC+03:00.

It seems to me, that most users can ignore this update (except for those living in the named regions).
