[German]A short side note: Owners of a smartphone with Windows 10 Mobile Version 1703 will receive security updates for the last time today. That means the support ends today.

You have to stop when it's at its best – a smart person once said. I don't know if this applies to the above topic. The fact is, however, that support for smartphones with Windows 10 Mobile Version 1703 ends today (see this Microsoft page).

If I got it right, this concerns the Lumia 640 and the Lumia 640 XL from Microsoft. The parts contain a Snapdragon 400 chipset and only 1GB RAM, as neowin.net reports here, and were still delivered with Windows 8.1 Phone, as Martin Geuß writes at German site Dr. Windows. Thus an upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile Version 1709 is probably not possible.

The devices mentioned above can still be used, but will not receive any updates anymore. This is another nail in the coffin for the Windows 10 Mobile platform. The last mobile operating system release of Windows 10 is version 1709, whose support ends on December 10, 2019. Then Windows 10 Mobile will be history.
