[German]Brief notification for administrators who use a mail protection / security solution from Barracuda Networks in an enterprise environment. Since tonight (September 29, 2022) there seems to be a problem that emails get stuck in their spam filters (Email Security Gateway or Barracuda Email Protection) and are not forwarded. The whole thing seems to be a global problem – although there is almost no information available.

Spam filter/virus scan fails
German blog reader Frank just contacted me by email because he has serious problems in his area with mails getting stuck in the spam filter. Frank writes.
have you heard anything about Barracuda-Networks having a problem with spam filtering/virus scanning.
Since today approx. 4.30 o'clock mails hang in the spam filter, according to Barracuda a global problem and there is also still no info when the problem is solved. [it's Sept. 29, 2022, 4:30 a.m. Central European time]
Frank has a Barracuda Email Security Gateway Virtual V400 security solution, but writes that he has not really found anything on the Internet about this problem. Several German blog readers confirmed this issue in comments to my German blog post. Barracuda Networks has confirmed the issue – I was told, that some Barracuda servers are down.

I can confirm this issue!
We have 10000 emails in the queue of the Barracuda, all our clients are unable to receive any emails.
After waiting 1 hour on hold while calling Barracuda Networks, they confirmed that the issue is worldwide.
Aproximatly 12 hours later, Barracuda still have no news on this!!!!
A German user reported, that Barracuda support has removed some defintion files in his environment, and it works now.

Same issue here in the US… Found out this morning. Been playing with loosening things till I get mail to flow, we'll see if I ever have luck.
It was botched Energize Updates. Log into your Barracuda, navigate to Energize Updates, and make sure you have the latest version.
US here. Mine is still down at 13:52. Barracuda says be patient but we have already lost a day of work.

We had the same issue with a Barracuda ESG for AWS.
We tried everything (clearing the queue, rebooting, updating, downgrading/upgrading the firmware, creating a case with Barracuda Networks Support [We haven't heard anything from them yet], etc.) and nothing worked.
But, it is working now (since 10:05am CST aprox.).
After these lines appeared in my Web Syslog, my emails started to be delivered:
