iOS 17: Shared calendar bus still unfixed

[German]I'm posting an issue that has been annoying iOS 17.x users for months when they use shared calendars. Created entries are displayed as invitations, but they can no longer be edited or accepted. Users have been complaining about this for over 3 months, but to my knowledge the issue has not yet been resolved.

Note from a reader

I no longer have any iOS devices myself, so I haven't come across this error yet. Blog reader René had already reported on January 24, 2024 and complained about the calendar bug in iOS 17. He wrote in an email:

Hello Mr. Born,

Perhaps you could address the issue that there have been fundamental problems with shared calendars since iOS 17. Created entries are then suddenly invitations that cannot be accepted and can no longer be edited.

You can find some messages about this on Reddit, Microsoft Answers and in the Apple Support Community. There, one blames it on the other. Users who use shared Google calendars natively in iOS also have the problem. Several months have now passed and the problem has not been fixed in iOS 17.1, 17.2 and currently in 17.3.

His hope was: "Maybe some readers of your blog will give feedback on this".

Mentions in the internet

The problem is being discussed in numerous forums on the internet, as I saw in a quick search. On reddit.com, the issue for iOS 17 was already addressed in this thread in October 2023. Since the upgrade to iOS 17, the thread creator and his wife can no longer edit the content of the "Family" calendar that Outlook.com maintains for the user. Entries can be added, but afterwards they can only be accepted or rejected. It looks as if the self-created appointment was created by someone else and is then treated as an invitation and not a calendar entry.

First I thought: Well, it's an old entry, surely fixed long ago with an iOS update? In the Apple community, however, there is the post iPhone Calendar problem with iOS 17.1.1 update, where someone complains about the bug in iOS 17.1.1. The user writes on November 27, 2023 that with iOS 17.1.1 she cannot create or edit individual appointments in her shared calendar with her husband using the calendar function. Since the husband created the shared calendar (years ago), every new appointment in iOS 17.1.1 is displayed as an invitation with the husband as the organizer. The user asks: Is this a problem that others have also noticed? There are numerous answers that indicate, among other things, that it is a bug in iOS 17.x.

On Microsoft Answers there is the entry Unable to Edit Items on Calendar on iPhone iOS 17 from the beginning of October, which also describes this problem with calendar entries that can no longer be edited. The thread already has three pages, and the latest post from January 24, 2024 states that the problem has not yet been fixed in iOS 17.3. Does anyone know of a solution to this problem?
