[German]A small addendum for administrators of Windows Server 2008/R2. There were out-of-band updates for these operating system versions on May 13, 2025 to close security gaps. And for Windows 11 24H2 Enterprise LTSC, Microsoft has probably also released a special update to close vulneratiblities.

Hotpatch KB5061258 for Windows 11 24H2 LTSC
On May 16, 2025, Microsoft released the hot patch update KB5061258 (noticed here). According to Microsoft, the out-of-band update only applies to Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC 2024. The support article states that this update makes various security improvements to internal operating system functions. No additional problems are known with this update.
Out-of-Band Updates for Windows Server 2008/R2
As of May 13, 2025, Microsoft must also released out-of-band updates (in addition to the rollup updates) for Windows Server 2008/R2. I came across the post by Susan Bradley on the patchmanagement.org mailing list. She quotes from a Microsoft support article:
I am running Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2. How do I protect my system from this vulnerability?
The protections for this vulnerability are not included in the following May 2025 monthly rollup or security-only updates released on May 13, 2025:
- Windows Server 2008 R2: KB5058454 (Security-only update)
- Windows Server 2008 R2: KB5058430 (Monthly Rollup)
- Windows Server 2008: KB5058429 (Security-only update)
- Windows Server 2008: KB5058449 (Monthly Rollup)
Instead, customers running these versions of Windows Server need to install the following Out-of-Band (OOB) updates, released also on May 13, 2025, as applicable:
