Thunderbird 102.9.0

[German]The developers of Thunderbird have released another update of the email client to version 102.9.0 on March 14, 2023. It is a bug fix and security update, which should eliminate vulnerabilities.

According to the Thunderbird release notes the following changes were made in this version:

  • Notification about a changed OpenPGP key of a sender was not immediately visible
  • Changed: Thunderbird now warns the user that OpenPGP is disabled if the RNP library is outdated or missing
  • TLS certificate override dialog was not displayed when retrieving messages via IMAP using the "Retrieve messages" context menu
  • Spell check dictionaries were missing in localized Thunderbird builds that should have included them
  • Tooltips for switching between "show/hide calendar" were not displayed

In addition, various vulnerabilities, some rated as high, have been fixed (see here). The system requirements for the various operating system versions (see here for more details):

  • Windows: Windows 7 or higher
  • Mac: Mac OS X 10.12 or higher
  • Linux: GTK+ 3.14 or higher
