Patchday: Windows Server-Updates (12. Mai 2026)

Zum 12. Mai 2026 (zweiter Dienstag im Monat, Patchday bei Microsoft) wurden verschiedene kumulative Updates für die unterstützten Versionen von Windows Server freigegeben. Nachfolgend habe ich die bereitgestellten Updates samt einigen Details für diese Windows Server-Versionen (von Windows Server 2012 bis 2025) herausgezogen.

Die nachfolgend aufgeführten Updates beheben die in Microsoft Security Update Summary (12. Mai 2026) beschriebenen und für Windows Server relevanten Schwachstellen.

Updates für Windows Server 2025

Eine Liste der Updates für Windows Server 2025 lässt sich auf dieser Microsoft-Webseite abrufen. Für Windows Server 2025 wurde das kumulative Update KB5087539 freigegeben, welches Sicherheitspatches und diverse Fixes beinhaltet.

• [Secure Boot] With this update, Windows quality updates include additional high confidence device targeting data, increasing coverage of devices eligible to automatically receive new Secure Boot certificates. Devices receive the new certificates only after demonstrating sufficient successful update signals, maintaining a controlled and phased rollout.​​​​​​​
• [Connectivity] This update improves the reliability of Simple Service Discovery Protocol (SSDP) notifications to help prevent the service from becoming unresponsive.
• [Daylight saving time (DST)] This update supports the 2023 DST change for the Arab Republic of Egypt.
• [Domain controllers] This update improves the performance of the Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (LSASS) on domain controllers when Microsoft Defender is enabled. It reduces CPU and memory usage during Event Tracing for Windows collection of IDL_DRSGetNCChanges events.
• [Remote Desktop (known issue)] Fixed: This update addresses an issue that affects the Remote Desktop Connection security warning dialog. The dialog could render incorrectly in multi-monitor scenario when the monitors had different scaling set. This might occur after installing the April 2026 (KB5082063) security update. • ​​​[Sign-In] After you install the Windows update released on or after March 10, 2026, some users might experience an issue signing in to apps with a Microsoft account. Even when the device has a working Internet connection, a "no Internet" error appears during sign in and prevents access to Microsoft services and apps such as Microsoft Teams.

Dieses Update wird automatisch von Windows Update heruntergeladen und installiert, ist aber auch im Microsoft Update Catalog und per WSUS sowie WUfB erhältlich. Update KB5087538 für Windows Server 2019

Das kumulative Update KB5087538 steht nicht nur für Windows 10 2019 Enterprise LTSC etc. bereit, sondern auch für Windows Server 2019. Das Update beinhaltet Sicherheitsfixes, und Verbesserungen bzw. Fehlerbehebungen (auf den Registerreiter zu Server 2019 umstellen), die im Supportbeitrag aufgeführt sind.

Windows Server 2012/R2 sind im Oktober 2023 aus dem Support gefallen und bekommen nur noch mit ESU-Lizenz Updates. Beachtet die Hinweise auf die Installationsreihenfolge für Windows Server, die Microsoft in den KB-Artikeln angibt.

Bei einer manuellen Installation ist das neueste Servicing Stack Update (SSU) vorher zu installieren – wobei dieses SSU nicht mehr deinstalliert werden kann.
