Patchday November 14, 2017: Updates for Windows 7, 8.1, 10

Microsoft released cumulative Updates for all supported Windows 10 builds. Here is an overview about these patches.

Update KB4048955 for Windows 10 Version 1709

This month Windows 10 Fall Creators Update received its first regular updates. Cumulative security update KB4048955 for Windows 10 Version 1709 (Fall Creators Update) contains quality improvements and fixes some issues, documented within the linked KB article. One issue solved, is the missing app problem in Fall Creators Update (see Windows 10 V1709: Workaround for missing apps …).

This update changes Windows 10 to build 16299.64. The patch is distributed via Windows Update, but may also be downloaded via Microsoft Update Catalog. Note, that there are know issues within this update (see description of KB4048955).

Update KB4048954 for Windows 10 Version 1703

Cumulative security update KB4048954 for Windows 10 Version 1703 (Creators Update) contains quality improvements and fixes some issues, documented within the linked KB article. The update also addressed the Microsoft JET Database Engine bug (see Microsoft tries to fix the JET Database Engine bug).

This update changes Windows 10 to build 15063.728. The patch is distributed via Windows Update, but may also be downloaded via Microsoft Update Catalog. Note, that there are know issues within this update (see description of KB4048954).

Update KB4048953 for Windows 10 Version 1607

Cumulative security update KB4048953 for Windows 10 Version 1607 (Anniversary Update) contains quality improvements and fixes some issues, documented within the linked KB article. The update addresses also the Microsoft JET Database Engine bug (see Microsoft tries to fix the JET Database Engine bug). This update is blocked for express install under Windows Server 2016.

This update changes Windows 10 to build 14393.1884. The patch is distributed via Windows Update, but may also be downloaded via Microsoft Update Catalog. Note, that there are know issues within this update (see description of KB4048953).

Update KB4048952  for Windows 10 Version 1511

Cumulative security update KB4048952 for Windows 10 Version 1511 contains quality improvements and fixes some issues, documented within the linked KB article. It changes the build to 10586.1232. The update addresses also the Microsoft JET Database Engine bug (see Microsoft tries to fix the JET Database Engine bug). The patch is distributed via Microsoft Update Catalog. Note, that there are know issues within this update (see description of KB4048952).

Update KB4048956 for Windows 10 Version 1507

Cumulative security update KB4048956 for Windows 10 Version 1507 (RTM) is only for Long Term Services Channel (LTSC). It changes the build to 10240.17673 and contains security fixes (see KB article). The patch is distributed via Windows Update and is available via Microsoft Update Catalog. Further details may be obtained from KB article.

Updates for Windows 7 SP1/Server 2008 R2 SP1

For Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 updates KB4048957 and KB4048960 has been released. The update history for Windows 7 may be found on this Microsoft site.

KB4048957 (Monthly Rollup) for Windows 7/Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1

Update KB4048957 (November 14, 2017, Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1) contains improvements and bug fixes also contained within October 2017 update. It addresses issue where applications based on the Microsoft JET Database Engine are causing trouble and more, but there are know issues documented within KB4048957. The update is distributed via Windows Update and is available as download in Microsoft Update Catalog.

KB4048960 (Security-only update) for Windows 7/Server 2008 R2 SP1

Update KB4048960 (November 14, 2017, Security Only Quality Update for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1) addresses the same security issues as update KB4048957 – and has also the same known issues.This update is distributed via WSUS and via Microsoft Update Catalog.

Updates for Windows 8.1/Server 2012 R2
