Issues with Firefox session logout

Mozilla[German]Another small note for Firefox users. German blog reader Martin G.  has pointed out an annoying issues with Firefox that affects sessions where the user is logged into online accounts. The automatic login doesn't work after revoking a machine from suspended state.

I don't want to discuss here whether a browser should allow automatic login to websites. Browsers have the functionality to store passwords and login information. If you are logged on to a website, most browsers can more or less automatically log on to these pages after a crash or after hibernation.

Auto session login does not work anymore

Martin G. sent me an e-mail two days ago with a note about a problem. He encountered a problem with the login of existing sessions in Firefox. He writes about this.

1-2 weeks ago I came across a very annoying issue that affects both my private and my business PC.

I have always been a Firefox user and I have always been satisfied. Recently, however, there have been problems with the logged in sessions. Means that I have to login/login to all websites every morning. Very annoying.

Martin doesn't seem to be an isolated case, though, because he writes me 'I'm not the only one affected by this problem' and sent me a link to this reddit.com post, where the problem is also described. A troubled user posted the numerous findings from the internet with similar cases. Here someone brings it to the point:

Getting logged out of Youtube daily

I tend to get logged out automatically every night, roughly around the same time every night, from only Youtube and i got to re-log in. I deleted cookies, but no fix. I refreshed Firefox and it stayed logged in for 10 days, and now it's starting to log me out again just as before. Any help would be appreciated.

Martin wrote that he intends to try the suggestion from this reddit.com thread. Go to about:config and check if privacy.purge_trackers.enabled is set to false. Martin said that the information might be of interest for other users. At this point my question: Is anyone else affected and is there another solution known?
