The attack occurred as early as November 15, 2021, and resulted in all of the company's IT systems being shut down. As a result, there have been business interruptions at Basler AG.

Since 2010, the company has focused mainly on its camera business and is a developer and manufacturer of machine vision components for use in industrial mass production, medicine & life sciences, and traffic control and logistics. Founded in 1988 by Norbert Basler, the company employs around 850 people at its locations in Ahrensburg, USA, Singapore, Taiwan, Korea, China and Japan.

I became aware of the cyber attack through the following tweet. This tweet probably refers to an adhoc announcement of Basler AG published on DGAP.de.
According to the announcement, Basler AG was already the target of a cyber attack on Monday, November 15, 2021. This is currently causing massive disruptions within the IT infrastructure of the company. As an immediate measure, all IT systems of the group had to be shut down in a controlled manner.
The company writes that it is prepared for such a scenario and has taken out a cybersecurity insurance to protect against damages from cyber attacks. Basler AG also currently assumes that the damages and expenses caused by the cyber attack will be fully covered by existing insurance policies.

But business operations are suspended as a result of this attack. Specialists are working flat out to ensure a secure recovery of the affected systems as quickly as possible. Until then, business partners will only have limited access to the company's services. It is not yet clear how long this will last. The description points to a ransomware attack.
After the incident, the company immediately set up a task force with internal as well as external IT and forensics experts to conduct an investigation into the incident. In parallel, law enforcement authorities were called in and a criminal complaint was filed. Reports have also been and are being made to the relevant data protection authorities in Germany and abroad.
According to the current state of knowledge, the attack was directed specifically at the company itself and not against the AG's customers. However, it is currently unknown whether data was leaked. The share price of the SDAX newcomer briefly came under pressure as a result.
