Windows 11 24H2/25H2: Citrix Director / Remote Assist fails with update KB5074109

WindowsBrief information for administrators of Citrix Virtual Desktop environments. I received several reports, that after installing security update KB5074109 from January 13, 2025, for Windows 11 24H2 or 25H2, Citrix Director failed to work. The reason is, that Microsoft Remote Assist used by Citrix Director fails.

Citrix Director is used to monitor and diagnose Citrix Virtual Apps and Citrix Desktop, but this software depends on Microsoft Remote Assist (msra.exe). And msra.exe fails with "File corrupted", if update KB5074109 from January 13, 2025, is installed. Currently there is only a tricky workaround, that exchanges msra.exe with an older version. I've discussed the details within this article [use the translate option in the side bar of my German blog to read the article in English or other languages].
