Windows Sept. 2026 RDS Bug: Microsoft Provides a KIR Solution

Windows[German]The Microsoft security updates for Windows released on September 8, 2026, cause RDP connections to stop working after the patches are installed. Users are logged out and can no longer log in. Microsoft has now confirmed this; all versions of Windows are affected. In Microsoft's non-public admin portal, the company has provided more details, known issues, and rollback solutions (KIR).

I've compiled all the information available in a German blog post here. The blog post contains also the download links of the KIR msi files. But the feedback from my German blog readers was, that the KIR solution doesn't helps in all cases. And one reader told me, that Microsoft plan to release an out-of-band update with a fix on Sept. 14, 2026, (late evening European time, I expect 8 p.m. UTC or later).
