Windows[German]In case anyone hasn't noticed, it's 2025. Microsoft has also come out and said that 2025 will be the "year of Windows 11 PC updates". After all, Windows 10 will cease to be supported in October 2025 and half to two thirds of all Windows clients are not yet on Windows 11. Everything is "hungry for Windows 11 and new Copilot+PCs". Some people are walking around Redmond with dollar signs in their eyes. I have a few more poison pills from the reality.

Vendor of PhoneMondo was the victim of a cyber attack on January 2, 2025

KG has been started inform customers that the company was victim of a cyber attack. The attackers were able to access a database of a test environment for the PhoneMondo cloud telephony software.

Warning: Allegedly leaked GTA San Andreas source code with malware

Stop - Pixabay[German]The source code of the Rockstar Games game GTA San Andreas is allegedly being offered for download on the Internet. First hints seem to have appeared on the internet since yesterday (see e.g. the article Rockstar reportedly faces another major leak as fans await GTA 6 release). It has been hailed as the "biggest leak" for Rockstar Games and there may be some people clamoring for the files. But the latest reports say it's fake and the leak contains ransomware.

Active Directory vulnerability can cause unpatched Windows servers to crash

In December 2024 Microsoft has released patches for LDAP vulnerabilities, that that allows attackers to run an DoS attack on Active Directory. Now a Poor of Concept has been released, that shows, that these vulnerabilities allows an attacker to crash any unpatched Windows Server.

Tenable broken plugin update takes Nessus agents offline

Windows 10: End of support in October 2025 – Million systems about to be replaced?

Windows[German]ESET says, currently 32 million systems with Windows 10 are still in use in Germany. The security company warns of a worst-case scenario, as support for Windows 10 will expire in October 2025. A "switchover" is being propagated. I am of the opinion that Windows 10 users can look forward to October 2025 in a very relaxed manner.

Windows 11 24H2; Server 2025: msu update install error "Operation is not supported" explained

Windows[German]Microsoft has introduced the so-called Checkpoint Cumulative Updates for Windows 11 24H2 and Windows Server 2025. In September 2024, there were probably first reports of problems, users failed with the error "Operation is not supported". Microsoft has now updated a support article that describes the procedure for successfully installing .msu updates manually on systems with this error.
