Edge 149.0.4022.52: Issues with folder redirection of the Downloads folder to an FQDN?

Edge[German]Microsoft released an update for the Edge 149.0.4022.52 browser in the Stable Channel on June 4, 2026. A reader just informed me that since then, there have been issues with redirecting the Downloads folder to an FQDN URL. As a result, ICA files for Citrix cannot be found. Perhaps others are experiencing the same issue.

I took a quick look, and Edge was updated to version 149.0.4022.52 (Edge Stable Channel) on June 4. You can read about the changes in the changelog.

Reader Report on FQDN Issues with Folder Redirect

German blog reader Josh eached out to me in a private message on Facebook (thanks for that) and wrote: "I don't know if anyone else has reported this yet, but we're seeing an interesting scenario with a bug." I can confirm that this is the first report I've received.

They have trouble in Edge using FQDN paths to redirect the Downloads folder. If Citrix ICS files shall be downloaded and opened, Edge reports a missing file. Without FQDN paths everything works fine. Also Google Chrome didn't show this behavior. Further details may be found in my German blog post (use build in translation to read the text in English).
