Quick reminder or information for users or administrators of VMware by Broadcom vCenter installations. As of today, April 23, 2025, a change in vCenter updates will come into effect, so that updates can only be downloaded and installed with update tokens.
[German]Microsoft has released optional cumulative (preview) updates for Windows 10 22H2 (KB5055612) and Windows 11 22H2-23H2 (KB5055629) on April 22, 2025. Addendum: The optional cumulative (preview) update for Windows 11 23H2 (KB5055627) was released on April 25, 2025. These updates contain fixes that can be tested and are then generally rolled out as fixes in the following month. It should be noted that preview updates must be manually initiated for download and installation by default (although Windows 11 22H2 and later contains options for automatic installation).

[German]Systems with Windows 11 seem to be becoming more and more of a "trouble maker" in some cases. Either the users are annoyed by BlueScreens. Or the computers cannot install updates and fall into a boot loop and can hardly be revived. I have received several reports about this over the last few days.
[German]On March 11, 2025, Microsoft also publicly documented and patched the vulnerability CVE-2025-24054 contained in Windows. The vulnerability enables NTLM spoofing, but was classified by Microsoft as "difficult to exploit". Last week, Checkpoint pointed out that cybercriminals are attacking systems via CVE-2025-24054.

[German]Microsoft has recently discontinued virtualization-based security (VBS enclaves) as a feature for older Windows versions prior to Windows 11 24H2 and Windows Server 2025. and declared it as deprecated. Also Windows UWP Maps and Windows Maps Platform APIs have already been deprecated as of April 8, 2025.

[German]I don't know how many administrators from the blog readership are responsible for installations of the large Surface Hub 2S and Surface Hub v1 displays in their companies. These were delivered with Windows 10, which will be discontinued in October 2025. As the devices may not be able to be updated to Windows 11, the question arises as to what to do.
[German]Today a short note for administrators in corporate environments who use the PDFCreator from pdfforge on their Windows clients. The developer has made a change to the software for creating PDF documents. As a result, this software can no longer be used free of charge in corporate environments; instead, the business versions must be used.
[German]VMWare by Broadcom released a security update for VMware Tools to version 12.5.1 at the end of March 2025 to close a vulnerability. A blog reader contacted me the other day because he was running into massive problems with the network and AD service accounts with this version of VMware Tools under VMware ESXi.
[German]Small addendum to a topic that has been left here for a few days. Microsoft has already confirmed a new problem with Windows Server 2025 in connection with Active Directory Domain Controllers (DC) on April 11, 2025. After restarting the server operating system, the DC is no longer accessible. This is probably due to incorrectly assigned Windows Firewall profiles after each restart.
