[German]Microsoft comes again under pressure in the USA and Germany due to privacy concerns about Windows 10 and Office 365. The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) has launched a "Fix It Already!" campaign, in which Microsoft also appears with Windows 10. And digital experts from German cities and municipalities are rebelling because of the almost uncontrollable transfer of comprehensive user data from Windows 10 and Office 365 to Microsoft's cloud.

Vulnerability in Amazon’s Ring doorbell

[German]IoT security experts from BullGuard and Dojo have uncovered a previously unknown vulnerability in the networked video doorbell of the Amazon subsidiary Ring: audio and/or video material was transmitted unencrypted to the ring app and was therefore vulnerable to external attacks. The vulnerability has now been fixed.

Failover-Cluster (SQL): No DNS registration after update

[German]Here is a strange observation of a blog reader on Windows Server 2016 systems running as failover clusters (SQL). After the February 2019 updates have been installed, virtual accounts can no longer be registered in the DNS. An error entry with ID 3019* is entered in the event logs.

Windows 10 V1809: Compatibility update KB4489491 (03/01/2019)

Microsoft also released a compatibility update KB4489491 for the upgrade to Windows 10 Version 1809 on March 1, 2019. The update can be loaded during installing or recovering Windows 10 and is intended to improve the upgrade experience.

Thunderbird 60.5.2 causes a MAPI error – a workaround

[German]Mozilla's developers released the e-mail client Thunderbird version 60.5.2 on February 25, 2019. This maintenance update should fix some bugs, but caused users to get a MAPI error when trying to send mail attachments. It is no longer possible to send files via MAPI (possibly from third party applications via mailto).
