Operation Magnus: Law enforcement officials have seized the infrastructure of Infostealer Redline and Meta

Sicherheit (Pexels, allgemeine Nutzung)[German]International law enforcement agencies from the Netherlands, the United States, Belgium, Portugal, the United Kingdom and Australia have shut down three servers in the Netherlands and seized two domains linked to the infostealers Redline and Meta as part of Operation Magnus. In addition, charges were brought in the United States and two people were taken into custody in Belgium.

Exchange Online: Inbound SMTP DANE with DNSSEC available

Windows: Driver signature bypass enables rootkit installation

Windows[German]Old topic new revisited. Attackers can downgrade Windows kernel components and thus bypass the protection of the operating system through functions such as Driver Signature Enforcement. This allows rootkits to be used on fully patched systems. SafeBreach security researcher Alon Leviev has reported the problem to Microsoft, but they do not want to do anything about it.

Microsoft and the Copilot nonsense machine

Stop - PixabayMicrosoft is pushing Copilot onto the market and the user community. There's even "Copilot for teachers" in schools. On the other hand, I have heard critical statements that question the whole AI hype and see  – at least what Microsoft is doing – as a mistake. The boss of Salesforce sees Copilot as the "new Clippy", with which Satya Nadella and his staff are burning a lot of money. A nice topic that I'll take a look at.

iOS Outlook app: Sync to Exchange broken (Oct 25, 2024)

Malware September 2024: Formbook on Windows devices

I have had the malware report for September 2024 from security provider Check Point since mid-October 2024. Windows systems in Germany were probably particularly affected by the Formbook malware. The infostealer replaced CloudEye as the most active malware in this country and accounted for a full 21 percent of all infections. In addition, the transportation sector was again increasingly targeted by hackers. Here is a brief overview.
