[German]I'm posting some information here on the blog that I came across a few days ago. From mid-July 2024, older Outlook clients and web browsers will refuse to work with Microsoft email accounts. Users will then have to update their clients in order to continue sending and receiving emails.
[German]On July 1, 2024, the Teams 2.0 client was to be deployed across the board on Windows. Microsoft has stopped the automatic distribution because the automatic MS Teams 1.0 uninstallation leads to Outlook problems. And Microsoft has long had a bug in its iOS app for Teams that makes creating an out-of-office note a problem for users. The texts cannot be corrected via the app – it appears to be an array error. I'll summarize the two issues in a blog post.
[German]The chatGPT provider OpenAI was the victim of a cyberattack in 2023, in which the attackers were able to access and read the internal chats between researchers and other employees of the company. However, the source code behind the OpenAI LLMs was not accessible. This was probably made public by a source who leaked the information to the New York Times.

The bottom line is that this will lead to massive price increases. But CheckMK has probably also massively increased its prices in 2024, as a reader told me a few days ago (he pointed this out here in a German comment).
[German]The trend towards subscription models instead of one-off payments when purchasing software does not stop at Paessler and its PRTG software. [German]Swiss provider Proton, known for its encrypted mail service, announced and released its "Docs in Proton" service this week. Similar to Google Docs, users can open an online storage and edit documents in Docs.
[German]The hack of the remote maintenance provider TeamViewer seems to have gone more smoothly than feared. A state actor (APT29) did have access to the company's internal IT environment. However, neither the production environment with the sources and binaries of the remote maintenance software nor customer data appear to have been affected. This was announced by the provider in what is now the third status update.
[German]A quick note for Windows users who have the MSI Center from Micro-Star International installed on their system. There is a Local Privilege Escalation vulnerability CVE-2024-37726 in this software that allows an attacker to gain system privileges. Versions <= 2.0.36.0 are affected – anyone using this software on their system should therefore update to be on the safe side.
[German]There seem to be problems with one of the latest Office updates, which affects the Click2Run versions of Microsoft Office 2016, 2019, 2021 and Office 365 version 2406. The attempt to perform an update search and update to the next build then fails with error code 30088-27. Here is the message from an affected person and the question: Are there other victims?
[German]Short information for Microsoft Office 365 administrators who use the connector for Microsoft Teams. From August 15, 2024, it will no longer be possible to set up new connections for this piece of software. On October 1, 2024, the product will be discontinued and will no longer work.
