Windows: Certificate spoofing vulnerability CVE-2025-55229; and MDT vulnerability CVE-2025-55230 (August 21, 2025)

Windows[German]All supported versions of Windows (clients and servers) contained a certificate spoofing vulnerability (CVE-2025-55229) – already fixed in May 2025. On August 21, 2025 updated the support article and listed updates to fix the issue. On August 21, 2025, the RCE vulnerability CVE-2025-55230 in MBT drivers became known. However, I am currently only finding broken links on both of Microsoft's security articles.

Das kumulative Update KB5063878 für Windows 11 24H2 oder das Update-Pendant für Windows 10 21H2-22H4 verursachen Leistungsprobleme beim NDI-Streaming. Microsoft hat es zum 21. August bestätigt, Blog-Leser hatten ebenfalls darauf hingewiesen. Es bleibt nur ein Workaround bis zur Korrektur.

Outlook New no longer starts after update (C-Runtime problem)

[German]A blog reader reports a strange problem. Outlook New is used as an app there. Since the app automatically restarted after an update (must have been to version 1.2025.813.500), it can no longer be opened. It looks as if the VC runtime is causing problems.

Windows 10/11: Out-of-Band-Updates KB5066188 / KB5066189 (19. Aug. 2025)

Windows[German]On August 19, 2025, Microsoft released the previously announced out-of-band updates for Windows 10 (KB5066188) and Windows 11 (KB5066189). These updates replace the regular updates from August 12, 2025, and are intended to resolve the reported issue with the broken restore and recovery.

August 2025 Patch Day Review: Upgrade Error 0x8007007F; Reset/Recovery Broken

CheckPoint analysis of the 0-click EchoLeak vulnerability in Microsoft Copilo

Copilot[German]In June 2025, security researchers reported the first zero-click vulnerability they had encountered in the Microsoft 365 Copilot AI application. Attackers could use this vulnerability, known as EchoLeak, to force Microsoft 365 Copilot to exfiltrate data. Check Point Research has now published an initial analysis of the situation.
