Windows 11 24H2 June 2025 update issues: KB5060842 with wrong timestamp and Print to PDF

Windows[German]The June 2025 update KB5060842 for Windows 10 24H2 was provided with an wrong timestamp (20.6.) in the meta files. This resulted in the update being delayed for installation on managed systems with update delay policies. The problem also occurs with Windows 10 22H2 and Windows 11 23H2. Microsoft has now confirmed this and will not fix anything, it's up to administrators to fix things. In addition, the "Print to PDF" issue I mentioned has also been confirmed as a problem. Skype for Business Server Subscription Edition (SE) available

Skype[German]Microsoft has also announced the availability of its Skype for Business Server Subscription Edition (SE) as of July 1, 2025. This is intended to provide and maintain an on-premises solution for Skype for customers who do not wish to rely on the Microsoft Teams cloud solution.

Exchange Server Subscription Edition (SE) release (July 1, 2025)

Exchange Logo[German]I have reported on Exchange Server SE several times in this blog. Microsoft has now generally released the Exchange Server Subscription Edition SE on July 1, 2025. The product will replace Exchange Server 2016 and Exchange Server 2019, both of which will be withdrawn from support on October 14, 2025. Windows 11 24H2: Microsoft Print to PDF is missing in fresh installs

Windows[German]There are reports that after a fresh installation of Windows 11 24H2, the printer entry "Microsoft Print to PDF" is missing and cannot be used. The required printer driver files seems to be missing. Has Microsoft made a mistake when creating the latest installation images for Windows 11 24H2? You have to use a workaround to be able to use the Microsoft PDF printer.

Windows Server: Microsoft Teams does not start (wlanapi.dll error) (30, June 2025)

Windows[German]There currently (June 30, 2025) seem to be an issue with Microsoft Teams running via terminal server on Windows Server environments. The Teams client no longer starts via remote desktop when it is to be run on Windows Server (2019 – 2022). Instead, the error dialog appears that the wlanapi.dll cannot be found. But there are workarounds.

Windows 10 22H2: Acticate ESU with Microsoft Intune

Windows[German]When Windows 10 22H2 reaches out of support as planned on October 14, 2025, enterprises can buy Extended Security Update (ESU) licenses from Cloud Solutions Provider (CSP) to receive 3 extra years of security updates. Administrators who manage larger client fleets with Windows 10 22H2 via Microsoft Intune can activate the ESU licenses there.

Microsoft's UEFI Secure Boot certificate expires in June 2026

Windows[German]I'm revisiting a topic here on the blog that still has a year to go, but could have very unpleasant consequences. UEFI Secure Boot certificates expire in June 2026. In October 2026, the next expiring UEFI certificate for Secure Boot will be affected. Microsoft pointed this out last week and asked administrators to react.

Windows 11 25H2 confirmed by Microsoft

Windows[German]Microsoft has announced its plans for Windows 11 25H2, which will be released later this year, on June 27, 2025. Users of Windows 11 24H2 should be able to switch to this new build of the operating system with little effort. It will therefore be a small feature update, which will come with different support periods.
