Windows: Mail app will no longer work from December 31, 2024

Mail[German]Brief information for users of Windows 10 (and possibly Windows 11) who are still using the "Mail and Calendar" app as their email client. Microsoft has started the transition to the new Outlook app. Anyone holding on to the old Mail app will be left out in the cold from December 31, 2024, as the app will no longer work. You will no longer be able to send and receive emails. Time to switch to another client such as Thunderbird.

Script to prevent forced switch from Classic Outlook to New Outlook

Windows 11 24H2: Upgrade block for Voicemeeter app removed

Windows[German]Owners of Windows 11 systems using the Voicemeeter app have not yet been able to upgrade to version 24H2. Microsoft had discovered that this app is not compatible with this operating system and triggers a blue screen that causes the computer to crash. The manufacturer has now fixed the problem and the upgrade block has been removed.

Interpol shuts down 22,000 IP addresses

Operation Synergia II (April 1 – August 31, 2024) specifically targeted phishing, ransomware and information theft sites and was a joint effort between INTERPOL, private sector partners and law enforcement agencies from 95 INTERPOL member countries.

Microsoft 365-Problem: SAS-URL not available, Error 500

Mail[German]A German blog reader has pointed out that the PST import into a Microsoft 365 tenant has not worked since at least November 1, 2024 using a SAS URL. The import tool is reporting Error 500 for his German Microsoft 365 tenant. According to Microsoft, however, the error probably occurs worldwide. I have summarized the known details below.

Windows Server 2019/2022: Upgrade to Windows Server 2025 offered

Windows[German]It's a strange information about Windows Server 2025 reported to me by German blog readers. Readers were offered an upgrade to Windows Server 2025 under Windows Server 2022 (and Windows Server 2019) for download and installation via Windows Update. It is currently unclear whether this is a mistake or a deliberate offer. In any case, the problem is that users do not have a license for Windows Server 2025 and are therefore falling into a trap with the upgrade offer.

Microsoft: Attacks on cloud customers by stealing login data
