Follow-up on security incident at Collins Aerospace that interrupts airports

As a result, numerous flights were canceled over the weekend (in Europe – and in other parts of the world), and the IT disruptions at the service provider continue to this day. Here is a brief review of what went wrong and what is still wrong. And there has been an arrest in connection with this incident. And there is a clue as to the type of ransomware used.

Windows 11 23H2: SMBv1 bug fixed by update KB5065790

Windows[German]After installing the security updates for Windows 10 and Windows 11 (and also some Server versions) released on September 9, 2025, a problem with accessing SMBv1 network shares occurs for users. As of September 23, 2025, Microsoft has fixed this bug, at least with the preview update KB5065790 for Windows 11 23H2.

Windows 10 22H2/Windows 11 23H2-25H2: Preview Updates (September 23/25/29, 2025)

Windows[German]Microsoft released the optional cumulative (preview) update KB5065790 for Windows 11 23H2 on September 23, 2025. For Windows 10 22H2, the preview update KB5066198 was not released until September 25, 2025. The preview update KB5065789 for Windows 11 24H2/25H2 was released on September 29, 2025. These preview updates contain fixes that can be tested and then rolled out generally as fixes in the following month. This will eliminate the SMBv1 bug.

US secret service dismantles SIM server network threatening New York's mobile networks

Windows 11 25H2: ISO installation image and enablement update available

Windows[German]The feature update Windows 11 Version 25H2, expected in fall 2025, has not yet been officially announced by Microsoft. However, the ISO files with the installation media are apparently available on Microsoft servers. The enablement update, which allows Windows 11 24H2 to be upgraded to Windows 11 25H2, is also already "available" on the internet. There are no new features, but WMIC has been removed.

Windows 11 24H2: Camera bug fixed; new problem with DRM media playback

Windows[German]Brief update from the end of last week. Microsoft has announced that it has finally fixed a camera bug (existing since 2024) that caused apps to freeze. However, after installing the August 2025 Preview Update (and subsequent updates), some apps will no longer be able to display or record live TV or play content protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM).

Fortra GoAnywhere MFT: Critical vulnerability CVE-2025-10035
