Windows 10: Update KB5001716 is installed secretly; throws error 0x80070643

Windows[German]I came across information in various places today that Microsoft is (secretly) installing an update KB5001716 on Windows 10. It is a "preparatory update" so that the systems can switch to Windows 11. However, some users are receiving the installation error 0x80070643 in the installation history. VMware product portfolio: Licensing internals; and Lenovo has been out since Feb. 27, 2024

[German]Broadcom has bought VMware and cleaned up the product portfolio and changed the licensing of various products. I have documents with internal licensing guidelines that show the effects of these changes. Private equity firm KKR buys VMware end customer business for 4 billion dollars

Windows Defender reports ExplorerPatcher as PUP

Windows[German]ExplorerPatcher is a tool to customize the Windows 11 desktop in the style of Windows 10 (see this ComputerBase article). Daniel contacted me by email yesterday and reported that Windows Defender has been categorizing the ExplorerPatcher tool as malware for a few days now. ExplorerPatcher is categorized as potentially unwanted and blocked.
