Windows 10/11: Preview Updates Feb. 2025

Windows[German]Microsoft has released optional, cumulative (preview) updates for Windows 10 22H2 (KB5050081) and Windows 11 24H2 (KB5052093) as well as Windows 11 22H2-23H2 (KB5052094) on February 25, 2025. These updates contain corrections that can be tested and will then be rolled out generally as fixes in the following month. It should be noted that preview updates must be manually initiated for download and installation by default (although Windows 11 22H2 and higher contains options for automatic installation).

Windows 11 24H2: VMware Workstation Pro 17.x extremely slow

Windows[German]I have received a user message about problems with virtualization using VMware Workstation Pro 17.x on Windows 11 24H2 clients. One user complains that the guest operating systems run extremely slowly. When VMware Workstation is started as a special administrator, virtualization works as expected.

IIS Crypto 4.0 released

Azure outage shuts down Norway's government sites (Feb. 20, 2025)

[German]On February 20, 2025, there was a major disruption to the Microsoft Azure Cloud in Norway. The affected services were unavailable for hours. Norwegian authorities and the government were among those severely affected, as they had moved their services to the Microsoft cloud.

Windows: UDP storm from dasHost.exe

Windows[German]I'll take up a topic for the readership that Frank Carius noticed when he recorded an RTP session via UDP using Wireshark. In the recording, he found a large number of UDP broadcast packets on ports 22222 and 3289. Of course, the question immediately arose as to what was causing these UDP broadcasts.

Exchange 2019 CU15 and updating server certificates

Windows 10/11 and Server hardening: Timeline for 2025 and beyond

Microsoft has also introduced a string length limit to the Kerberos policy for host names. Windows 11 24H2: System freezes and crashed due to Vmmem ressource consumption
