Windows 11 24H2: Are scanner issues fixed?
[German]Recently, Microsoft acknowledged problems with devices that use the eSCL scan protocol under Windows 11 24H2. This also affects USB scanners that simply cannot be found if they use the eSCL scan protocol. Microsoft claims to have fixed this error. Furthermore, device manufacturer updates should be tested in the event of scanner problems.
Windows 11: December 2024 updates cause start menu issues
[German]The cumulative updates published by Microsoft on December 10, 2024 appear to be causing problems for some Windows 11 users. There is talk of the Start menu no longer responding and other problems. There does not yet seem to be a remedy – and there will be no preview updates for December 2024.

Microsoft 365: Fix for spontaneously deactivated Office apps
[German]There was a problem with the activation of Microsoft 365 apps. Users are noticing since months that the (Office) apps from are subscription are spontaneously deactivated and can then no longer be used. Microsoft has published a support article about this and wrote that they investigating the issue. On December 20, 2024 they announced, that they rolled out a fix.

Edge update leaves transparent favorites folder icons (Dec. 21, 2024)
[German]Strange story – there are currently an increasing number of reports from users who claim to have received an Edge update before the weekend. After that, folder icons of the favorites are displayed transparently. I did some research after I came across the information on the patch management list on Sunday.

The received a mail about that and a password reset helps to regain access to the service. If my information is correct, this could be related to a Discord data leak or hack, because someone claimed that.

NSO Group found guilty of WhatsApp attack with Pegasus spyware
[German]In 2019, WhatsApp users fell victim to an attack by spyware that could be installed on Android and iOS devices via a vulnerability. WhatsApp sued the NSO Group, which developed and sold the exploit. A verdict has now been reached that represents a major legal victory for victims who were monitored via WhatsApp by the (Israeli) NSO Group's Pegasus spyware installed on their devices. The NSO Group has been found guilty.
