Windows 11 24H2: Upgrade from Home to Pro causes issue with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint

Windows[German]If someone upgrades a new computer with Windows 11 24H2 Home later to the Pro version (requires a corresponding license), he will run into issues, if Microsoft Defender for Endpoint shall be used. The system cannot  be integrated into Microsoft Defender for Endpoint. The same applies to OEM systems with Windows 11 24H2 Pro that are not prepared properly. Microsoft has confirmed this as a known issue and posted a workaround.

Operating system/Windows share (October 2024)

Microsoft Word deletes files due to file extension capitalization

[German]Strange observation, Unpleasant observation reported by German blog readers. As of today, October 2, 2024, Microsoft Word deletes document files (.RTF, .DOCX) as soon as the file name extension is written in capital letters.

Windows 11: Issues with preview update KB5043145 fixed

Windows[German]Microsoft released the preview update KB5043145 for Windows 11 22H2 and 23H2 last week. However, this update causes problems and leads to restarts, BlueScreens, GreenScreens and Bitlocker queries. Microsoft has now fixed these problems with a Known Issues Rollback (KIR).

Windows 11 24H released (Oktober 1, 2024)

Windows[English]Some German reader mentioned in comments: Microsoft has made the new Windows 11 24H2 available to the general public on October 1, 2024. Interested users with compatible hardware can download and install the new version from the Microsoft servers using the Media Creation Tool (MCT) or as an ISO.

Playstation network down worldwide (Sept. 30/Oct 1, 2024)

Stop - Pixabay[German]In addition to the Verizon mobile network outage in the USA reported here, Sony's Playstation network has probably also been affected. This has been massively disrupted since 1 a.m. this night and worldwide (with many countries further west still writing September 29, 2024). When attempting to log in, players only receive a network error ("The connection to the server timed out" or "An error has occurred") and cannot use the PlayStation.

Widespread Verizon outage in the USA (September 30, 2024)

Stop - Pixabay[German]Drama in the USA: Verizon's mobile network was down for hours yesterday, September 30, 2024. According to Bleeping Computer , iPhones and Android smartphones switched to SOS mode and were no longer able to make mobile calls. Only WiFi calling still worked. According to the provider, the disruption, which mainly occurred in the east of the USA where damage was caused by a hurricane, has since been rectified.
