Microsoft Teams changes: New labeling disappears – Classic Teams is EOL

Teams[German]A small addendum to Microsoft's plans for changes to the Teams client, which I came across a few days ago. Microsoft will remove the NEW label and the reminder of the end of support from the Teams client. The background to this is the end of support for the Microsoft Teams 1.x client on July 1, 2024. There are also new features for VDI solution for Microsoft Teams. Here is the relevant information.

HornetSecurity quarantines Microsoft Exchange emails (July 2, 2024)

Mail[German]A information to the administrators among the blog readership who use HornetSecurity to filter mails (e.g. in Microsoft Exchange). A reader informed me that the mails in question (for Exchange) have been quarantined. On the HornetSecurity status page there is currently only a Degraded Performance note. Addendum: In the meantime, the provider is said to be in contact with Microsoft.

Has the Qualys blog been hacked? (July 2, 2024)

The question arises as to whether their blog may have been hacked. Because there is currently an entry in Cyrillic advertising "Banknotes in the online casino". I find this a bit strange and would at least like to have it mentioned, so I took a closer look.

Microsoft Teams: Desktop application fails to launch (July 2, 2024)

Teams[German]Support for Microsoft Teams Classic expired on July 1, 2024. Now the first readers have reported that the Microsoft Teams client will not start on July 2, 2024. Is this related? Unclear, but there is a status message from Microsoft that addresses this problem and promises an investigation by Redmond.

Windows 10/Server 2019: Update KB5039217 causes English context menus on non English systems

Windows[German]Security update KB5039217 released by Microsoft for Windows Server 2019 (and Windows 10 1809) on June 11, 2024 is causing issues. On non English systems some context menus are in English – the localization has been broken. Microsoft stops driver synchronization in WSUS in April 2025

GrimResource: Windows XSS vulnerability exploited with .msc files

Windows 10: 0patch provides 5 years of additional support

Windows[German]Microsoft is planning to end support for Windows 10 in October 2025. After that, there will only be updates for paying customers of the ESU program. However, ACROS Security will use its 0patch agent to ensure that vulnerabilities in Windows 10 are patched for a further five years after its end of life in order to close security gaps. This is what Mitja Kolsek from ACROS Security told me this week – and I'm posting the information on the blog.

Microsoft: News from the Midnight Blizzard hack – customers may also be affected

[German]Microsoft's e-mail system (Exchange Online, Outlook.com) was compromised by hackers from the state group Midnight Blizzard Hackers. The hackers were able to read emails and also steal source code. Microsoft has now informed various customers that their e-mails could also be read if the customers corresponded with certain Microsoft accounts.
