Microsoft Teams 2.0: Standard backgrounds not usable?

Teams[German]I'm posting a topic here on the blog that a reader brought to my attention by email recently. Another reader has confirmed that behavior. The reader is an administrator in a corporate environment and is currently testing the new Microsoft Teams 2.0 client with around 20 users. He has noticed that the standard Microsoft backgrounds cannot be used in Teams 2.0. Custom backgrounds, on the other hand, can be used. Has anyone else noticed this?

Android: Microsoft Teams accounts may not be usable

In the past, there was a case where users may not have been able to use their Microsoft Teams accounts on all Android devices certified for Microsoft Teams. Microsoft has declared this problem, which has existed since mid-June 2023, to be resolved as of November 6, 2023.

Windows 11: GPO bug in "Settings Page Visibility" fixed with Nov. 2023 update

Windows[German]Small addendum from the November 2023 patchday. With the security updates from October 2023, the problem occurred that the group policies for "Settings Page Visibility" no longer applied under Windows 11 22H2. A reader had noted this here in the blog. If I haven't completely missed it, this bug was fixed with the November 2023 security updates.

Outlook bug for slow saving fixed – fix being tested with insiders

[German]Microsoft recently fixed a bug in conventional Outlook that caused problems when saving attachments. The problem has annoyed Outlook 365 users since July 2023 who wanted to save attachments to network shares. The saving processes took a very long time or aborted. Microsoft now claims to have fixed the bug, but is first testing it on a Windows Insider Preview version.

Shock: Sam Altman fired from OpenAI, and Greg Brockman leaves also

[German]It is a real quake and the employees of OpenAI are probably shocked. The founder and figurehead of OpenAI has been fired as CEO and Greg Brockman has also been removed from the board. Chief Technology Officer Mira Murati is to take over as CEO on an interim basis. Microsoft was probably informed a minute before the whole thing became public.

No Teams chat on Android since September 2023

[German]Microsoft offers its Microsoft Teams client both on the desktop and for mobile devices. The MS Teams client on Android has the shortcoming that it does not support chats. A reader pointed this out to me by email. I'll post it here in the blog as information and possibly for discussion. It seems, that it's a Microsoft license thing.

Windows 11 23H2 installation image available via Media Creation Tool

Windows[German]Good news for Windows 11 users who want to download a Windows 11 23H2 installation image from the Microsoft servers using the Media Creation Tool (MCT) and put it on a USB stick. After the Media Creation Tool (MCT) was previously only able to download Windows 11 22H2 from the Microsoft servers, this has now changed. Windows Server 2022: Nov. 2023 update KB5032198 fixes VMware ESXi bug caused by KB5031364

Windows[German]October 2023 update for Windows Server 2022 (KB5031364) causes an issue in connection with VMware ESXi. Windows Server 2022 installed in virtual machines (VMs) running on VMware ESXi hosts can't start no longer and ended in a blue screen. Windows 10/11: Changes due to the European Digital Markets Act

Windows[German]Microsoft has to move and is adapting some features/behaviorof Windows 10 and 11 due to the Digital Markets Act (DMA) applicable in Europe. For example, Microsoft Bing web search will be uninstallable – and it will also be possible to remove Microsoft Edge from Windows. These and other changes have just been announced with the latest Windows Insider Preview. Microsoft has also documented the delivery of the Remote Desktop Connection in another Insider Preview.
