Nagoya port (Japan) victim of Lockbit 3.0

Sicherheit (Pexels, allgemeine Nutzung)[German]Japan's largest overseas port in the city of Nagoya has fallen victim to a ransomware attack (probably from Lockbit 3.0). The NUTS IT system, which is used at all of the port's container terminals, has not worked since July 4, 2023 (Independence Day in the US). However, operators say they are optimistic they will have the IT back up and running for the port's operations by next Thursday (6/7). Addendum: They are back in operation.

Firefox 115.0, 115.0 ESR, and 102.13.0 ESR released

Mozilla[German]The Mozilla developers have published the Firefox versions 115.0 (Release Channel and Extended Stable Release Channel, ESR) and 102.13.0 ESR des on July 4, 2023. The version 102.13.0 ESR is a maintenance update, which should eliminate bugs. Firefox 115 is a new development branch.

Anonymous Sudan: Microsoft denies data leak of 30 million customer accounts

The group claimed this yesterday, but Microsoft consistently denies it, saying there is no proof. What is known, however, is that the Anonymous Sudan data group claimed an attack on the Microsoft cloud, and Microsoft confirmed that cloud service outages in recent weeks were due to DDoS attacks.

Windows[German]Another addendum from last week – Microsoft has released two dynamic updates KB5027318 for Windows 11 21H2 and KB5027318 for Windows 22H2. These updates allow corrections to be made to the setup during a Windows installation. Among other things, corrections can be made to WinRE.

Windows 10/11: June update can prevent Outlook and App from starting, bug fix available

Windows[German]On Windows systems, it was possible that Microsoft Outlook or other 32-bit apps or applications were prevented from starting after installing the June 13, 2023 security updates. The issue occurred in conjunction with anti-virus, anti-malware or security software from certain vendors (Trellix was named). Trellix resolved the issue by releasing an update.

Mail[German]Here's an issue that is probably affecting Outlook users (from Microsoft 365 Business) since long. Incoming (html) emails from some providers are displayed with black text on a black background. It hits sporadic some accounts and some mails, sometimes it's fixed suddenly.

Windows 10/11: Problems with Start menu, search and UWP apps fixed

Windows[German]Microsoft has finally responded with the June 2023 Preview updates and claims to have fixed annoying bugs in Windows 10 as well as Windows 11 that affect the Start menu, Windows Search and UWP app launches. I had reported here on the blog about the issues, including causes application accesses such as BARCO ClickShare to Microsoft's Office APIs several times since January 2023. So fixing this bug has taken almost half a year.

Windows 365: Microsoft is working on a Windows 11 based cloud PC for consumers

Windows[German]Another short addendum from last week (readers had pointed it out in comments, but I was in vacation last week). Microsoft plans  to offer Windows 11 as a cloud operating system to private users as Windows 365 via a subscription solution has leaked. For Microsoft, this is a logical step, which is already available as Windows 365 for enterprise environments. This solution offers the option to generate continuous revenue for Redmond, among other things. Whether the project makes sense for private users is another question.
