Windows 10: Preview Update KB5023773 and OOBE Update KB5025801 (March 21, 2023)

Windows[German]Microsoft has released two updates for the currently supported Windows 10 versions on March 21, 2023. Once there is the optional Windows 10 preview update KB5023773 (C-Week). In addition, Microsoft has released an OOBE update KB5025801 for Windows 10. Below I summarize the relevant information.

Windows 11 22H2: Microsoft confirms Defender bug "Local security protection is disabled"

Windows[German]I had already reported on issues with Windows Defender on Microsoft Windows 11. Affected people reported a defender warning "Local Security Authority protection is disabled". However, the LSA protection could not be enabled. The bug has been hit Windows 11 users for several weeks, and Microsoft has now confirmed the issue.

Optional Windows updates from April 2023 in 4th week of the month

Windows[English]Microsoft has once again announced a change in the update cycle for Windows (10 and 11 as well as Sever). Non-security-relevant preview updates will always be rolled out in the fourth week of a month (D-Week) starting in April 2023. Windows 11: March 14, 2023 updates slow down some (SSD NVME) boot drives

Windows[German]After the release of the cumulative security updates for Windows 11, reports have surfaced on the Internet that the performance of SSD drives has noticeably decreased following the update installation. Uninstalling the March 14, 2023 security update causes SSDs to return to their original read/write rates. It doesn't seem to be a general problem though, but depends on the SSD models used.

Ferrari hack confirmed (March 2023)

Sicherheit (Pexels, allgemeine Nutzung)[German]Italian carmaker Ferrari has been hacked, with attackers able to access and siphon off internal data. The cybercriminals are now trying to blackmail Ferrari and threatening to publish data. Since the car manufacturer did not respond to the blackmail, some of the captured data was published on the Internet.

Windows 11: "Windows Security Health Service exe no longer functional" due to Defender update

Windows[German]A couple of days ago a German user contacted me with a strong observation. On a fresh installed Windows 11 22H2 he received an event log entry that says (translated) "Windows Security Health Service exe no longer functioning". In addition, there are display errors in the Defender settings page. The strange thing is that the error happens to one user right after rebooting the system. It seems, that a Defender update brokes something.
