Windows 10/11: USB keyboard/mouse doesn't work properly in WinRE

Windows[German]A brief update from this week. Blog reader Ingo contacted me immediately after Patch Day because he had encountered issues with his mouse in Win RE. Microsoft has now officially confirmed that there may be issues with USB keyboards and USB mice in Win RE. Windows 11 24-H2 – 25H2 and Windows Server 2025 are affected. Windows 11 24H2: SenseShield Upgrade Stopper removed

Windows[German]Windows systems that had the SenseShield driver sprotect.sys installed could not previously run Windows 11 24H2—they experienced blue screens and crashes. The problem has now been solved, and Microsoft has lifted the upgrade blocker for Windows 11 24H2 that was related to SenseShield technology.

Windows 11 will become (still optional) an "AI PC" that you can talk to

Windows[German]Microsoft had been announcing it as a "big event" for days—now it's clear what they meant. All computers running Windows 11 (probably 24H2 / 25H2) are to be upgraded with AI functions to become AI companions that "users can talk to." At least, that's the fever dream from Redmond, although the whole thing is supposed to be optional (for now).

Windows 11 24H2-25H2/Server 2025: Microsoft confirms issue with IIS/localhost, offers KIR solution

Windows[German]Update KB5066835 from October 14, 2025 (as well as the preview update from September) for Windows 11 24H2-25H2 and Windows Server 2025, comes with a bug. This causes Internet Information Server (IIS) and thus the localhost function to no longer work. This cripples some applications. Microsoft has confirmed the issue and also provided a KIR solution.

There are indications that the KB5066835 update from October 14, 2025 causes localhost to become unresponsive. Some users uninstalled the update to get the issue fixed. Microsoft flags falsely Windows 10 21H2 Enterprise LTSC as EOL

Windows[German]Brief information for owners and administrators of Windows 10 21H2 Enterprise LTSC (and, of course, the IoT version). Administrators of these machines are (incorrectly) being shown information that support for this version is now ending. In my opinion, this is not correct, as LTSC versions receive 5 or 10 years of support.
