Fix for printing error in Windows 10 coming, more Windows printing issues (Nov. 2021)

Windows[German]It looks like Microsoft is preparing a fix that should correct printer errors that occur on network printers due to PrintNightmare updates. At least that's what a new Windows 10 Insider Preview tells us. Furthermore, I came across a report from an administrator who is noticing increased printer problems shortly after the November 2021 patchday. His network printers disappear from the dialog boxes.

Structures of Conti ransomware group exposed – payment infrastructure offline

WordPress: Sites hacked via plugin, shows fake ransomware claim (Nov. 2021)

[German]Currently, some operators of WordPress sites are caught on the wrong foot. The affected WordPress instances show a warning that the site is encrypted. A ransom of 0.1 Bitcoin is demanded for decryption. However, the WordPress instance is not encrypted, but the message is displayed via a compromised plugin.

iOS 15.1.1 is supposed to eliminate call bugs on iPhone 12 and 13

Apple has released the update to iOS 15.1.1 for its iPhones. It is a maintenance update that is supposed to fix user-reported calling issues for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13. Some users complain about dropped calls on these models. According to the update note, the new version of iOS "improves dropped call performance on iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models." (via)

Windows 7: Google Chrome gets support until January 2023

[German]Short message for users who are still with Windows 7 SP1 and ESU support, so possibly also receive patches until January 2023. Google has just announced that they will continue to support the Google Chrome browser until 2023 for Windows 7 SP1. Previously, it was planned to phase out Chrome support for Windows 7 next summer. CERT-Federation, USA, GB warns about attacks on Exchange and Fortinet

Sicherheit (Pexels, allgemeine Nutzung)[German]German CERT-Bund currently warns against outdated Microsoft Exchange servers. In Germany, thousands of Exchange Servers 2010 with open OWA are still in operation. Security organizations in the United States and the United Kingdom are also sounding the alarm because Iranian hackers are probably attacking Microsoft Exchange servers and Fortinet products. In addition, the US-CERT has added four entries to the list of known exploits. The vulnerabilities can be closed by security updates.

Basler AG Target of Cyber Attack (Nov. 2021)

The attack occurred as early as November 15, 2021, and resulted in all of the company's IT systems being shut down. As a result, there have been business interruptions at Basler AG.

Pitfall: Change Microsoft VLSC portal login to business account by 11/19/2021

[German]Most business users/administrators manage their licenses for Microsoft products via the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC). However, a company account will be required for this, at the latest from November 19, 2021. It was already announced in 2020 to October 2020, then nothing happened for a long time. With a private Microsoft account, you can no longer get the licenses. But if you try to create a business account, you will fail due to hurdles that Microsoft has caused. Windows 11: Microsoft speeds up rollout – new Media Player app

Windows[German]Microsoft has just announced that it wants to speed up the Windows 11 rollout on compatible devices. While the announcements of the past few weeks always hinted at a restrained rollout – actually, it wasn't supposed to start until 2022 – a paradigm shift is emerging. But I wonder where the compatible devices will come from and who will switch to Windows 11? Microsoft also unveiled a new Media Player app for Windows 11 Insiders.
