[German]Microsoft is preparing the next feature update for the spring release of Windows 10. This new Windows 10 build will be released as version 21H1 and is – big surprise – supposed to come as Windows 10 May 2021 update. At least, that's what Microsoft just announced and plans to commit the build in question today. Here's some information on what's known so far.
[German]Users of QNAP NAS drives were, after all, victims of a widespread ransomware campaign in April 2021, in which the drive contents were encrypted. The manufacturer responded with a security patch and also provided a "cleanup tool". However, the latter was not met with enthusiasm by everyone in charge – I received feedback from IT people on several channels right away. Therefore a glean on this topic.
[German]Security researchers have come across a misconfigured Microsoft Azure blob storage on the Internet that exposes sensitive internal information about a presentation for Microsoft Dynamics. Other companies have probably applied for a project or partnership with Microsoft Dynamics to integrate their products. According to the data, the dataset belongs to Microsoft.
[German]In the developer blog, Microsoft informed about the expiring support for the .NET Framework versions 4.5.2, 4.6 and 4.6.1 on April 26, 2021. Their support will end on April 26, 2022, one year from now. Then there will be no more security updates. The exception is Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2015, because .NET Framework 4.6 is integrated in this operating system. This operating system version is an LTSC version (Long Term Servicing Channel). Microsoft will continue to support .NET Framework 4.6 on Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2015 until the end of support for this operating system version (October 2025). .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, on the other hand, will continue to receive support until Jan. 9, 2029. [German]Google has released Google Chrome 90.0.4430.93 as of April 26, 2021. It is a security update that fixes 9 vulnerabilities in older browser versions.
[German]Microsoft has added functionality to its Microsoft Defender for Endpoint to detect and eliminate attacks from crypto miners on protected systems. This uses Intel Threat Detection technology on Intel Core processors and the Intel vPro platform.
[German]As of April 25, 2021, Emotet malware was automatically removed from Windows machines. This is done through a cleanup feature that International Law Enforcement had installed on infected systems as early as January 2021.
[German]Microsoft rolled out an automatic fix for Windows 10 version 2004, 20H2 (as well as Insider Preview 21H1) last week that is supposed to fix graphics issues with games (stutter, crashes, etc.). But it seems, that it didn't help for all users. Here is a brief overview of this issue.
